A 26-year-old man and a 22-year-old man, both from British Columbia, have died following a single-vehicle crash in Coles Island, N.B.

On May 1, 2025, at approximately 1:20 a.m., members of the Sussex RCMP detachment responded to a report of a single-vehicle crash on Route 2, near mile marker 355 in Coles Island. The driver and front passenger of the vehicle, a 26-year-old man and a 22-year-old man, both from British Columbia, died at the scene as a result of their injuries. Three other passengers were transported to hospital with various injuries.

The crash is believed to have occurred when the vehicle, travelling westbound, lost control and crossed the centreline before leaving the roadway and striking several trees.

Members of the Coles Island Fire Department, Ambulance New Brunswick, and an RCMP Collision Reconstructionist also attended the scene. A member of the New Brunswick Coroner’s office is assisting with the ongoing investigation, and autopsies will be conducted to determine the men’s causes of death.
