24-year-old man charged following drug trafficking investigation

A 24-year-old man from Sussex, N.B., has been charged following a drug trafficking investigation in Sussex, N.B.

In April 2025, members of the New Brunswick RCMP’s Southeast District Community Crime Reduction Unit (CCRU) began an investigation into the trafficking of illegal drugs in the Sussex region.

On June 12, 2025, CCRU members, with assistance from members of the Sussex and Hampton detachments, executed a search warrant at a residence on St. George Street, in Sussex, in connection with the investigation. A 24-year-old man was arrested at the scene without incident.

Subsequent to the search, police recovered quantities of what are believed to be crystal meth, ICE pills, cocaine, various prescription pills, drug paraphernalia, four cell phones, a rifle and ammunition.

On June 13, 2025, 24-year-old Colton Bernard appeared in Saint John Provincial Court and was charged with possession for the purpose of trafficking. He was remanded into custody and will reappear in Saint John Provincial on June 26, 2025.

The public also plays an important role in helping to reduce, prevent and solve crime, including the trafficking of illegal drugs. Anyone with information about, or who suspects, illegal drug activity in their neighbourhood is asked to contact their local police. The investigation is ongoing.
