Correction: A previous version of this news release incorrectly stated that there were multiple victims. We regret the error and apologize for any confusion it may have caused.

A 62-year-old man from Tracadie, N.B., has been sentenced in connection with an investigation into sexual assaults.

The investigation, led by members of the Tracadie RCMP, began in March 2022, following information received.

Through the investigation, it was discovered that the same man was also a suspect in connection with incidents that would have occurred between 2016 and 2020.

On June 21, 2022, a then 59-year-old man from Tracadie was arrested as part of this investigation. He was later released on conditions, pending a future court appearance.

On March 10, 2025, 62-year-old André LeBreton from Tracadie, appeared in Bathurst Court of King’s Bench and was found guilty of sexual assault, sexual interference, and invitation to sexual touching, following a judge and jury trial. He was remanded into custody, pending his sentencing.

On June 24, 2025, André LeBreton was sentenced to eight years in a federal correctional facility, minus time already served.

He was also ordered to register with the National Sex Offender Registry for 10 years. Following his release from prison, he will have to abide by conditions set out by the court, including not communicating with anyone under the age of 16, and to not attend any place that someone under the age of 16 is known to be for a period of 10 years.

A court-imposed publication ban is in place to protect the identity of the victim, as well as any information that could potentially identify them.
