The Grand Bay-Westfield and Oromocto RCMP detachments worked collaboratively to arrest a 33-year-old man in connection with a stolen truck incident in Tracyville, N.B.

On September 4, 2025, at approximately 7:16 a.m., members of the Grand Bay-Westfield RCMP detachment received a repot of a stolen truck from the Tracyville area, which had been spotted in Wirral, N.B. Following a quick investigation, police were able to locate the vehicle on Highway 785 towards the Lake Utopia area a short time later.

Members of the Oromocto RCMP detachment attended, and as they approached the stolen truck with their emergency equipment activated, the driver fled from police at a high rate of speed. Police did not initiate a pursuit. A short time later, members deployed a tire deflation device, and the vehicle slowly came to a stop. The driver and lone occupant of the vehicle fled on foot into a wooded area.

RCMP Police Dog Services (PDS) quickly initiated a track, while a Remotely Piloted Aircraft System pilot monitored the area from the air. Following a track of more than 3 kilometres, the driver, a 33-year-old man from Beaverdam, N.B. was located and arrested without incident.

On September 5, 33-year-old Tyler Williams-Cleghorn, from Beaverdam, appeared in Saint John Provincial Court and was charged with:

  • Flight from police
  • Dangerous operation of a motor vehicle
  • Resisting arrest
  • Possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000
  • Failure to comply with the conditions of a release order

He was remanded into custody and is scheduled to return to court on September 8 at 9:30 a.m.

The investigation is ongoing.
