Update, September 11, 2025: On September 8, 2025, Michael Thomas Glaspy from Riverview appeared before the Court of King's Bench in Moncton and was sentenced to 3 years in jail for manslaughter in connection with a 2023 homicide in Moncton. As part of his sentence, he will be prohibited from owning or possessing any firearms for a period of ten years and is subject to a lifetime ban on prohibited weapons and firearms.
Update, June 5, 2025: On June 4, 2025, Michael Thomas Glaspy from Riverview appeared before the Court of King's Bench in Moncton and was found guilty by the jury of manslaughter in connection with a 2023 homicide in Moncton. He was released on conditions until his next court appearance scheduled for August 13, 2025, at 1:30 p.m.
Original news release, April 14, 2023: A 50-year-old man from Riverview, N.B., has been charged in connection with a homicide in Moncton, N.B.
On March 4, 2023, members of the Codiac Regional RCMP responded to a report of an assault at an establishment on Casino Drive in Moncton, N.B. A 56-year-old man was transported to hospital with what were believed to be serious injuries. A 50-year-old man from Riverview was arrested at the scene, and was later released pending a future court appearance.
On March 28, the 56-year-old man, who was identified as Rodney Frenette of Moncton, died in hospital as a result of his injuries. The New Brunswick RCMP's Major Crime Unit determined the man's death to be a homicide.
On April 13, the 50-year-old man was arrested in connection with the homicide.
On April 14, Michael Thomas Glaspy appeared in Moncton Provincial Court via tele-remand, and was charged with manslaughter. He was released on strict conditions, and is scheduled to return to court on May 26 at 9:30 a.m.
The investigation is ongoing.
