The St. Stephen and Grand Manan RCMP detachments have made four separate drug-related seizures and arrests recently, as part of ongoing efforts to disrupt the distribution of illicit substances in the region.

On August 28, 2025, at approximately 12:25 a.m., a member of the St. Stephen RCMP detachment attempted to initiate a traffic stop on an ATV. The driver of the ATV failed to stop for police and fled the scene. A short time later, police located the driver, a 42-year-old man, who was arrested without incident. Subsequent to the arrest, police seized nearly 26 grams of what is believed to be fentanyl, along with a BB handgun, and drug trafficking paraphernalia.

Also on August 28, members of the Grand Manan RCMP detachment arrested a 57-year-old man on an outstanding warrant. During the arrest, police seized quantities of what is believed to be cocaine. The man was later released from custody and is scheduled to appear in court at a later date.

On August 29, at approximately 12:20 a.m., members of the St. Stephen RCMP detachment conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle on Prince William Street in St. Stephen. The traffic stop led to the arrest of a 46-year-old woman, and police seized what is believed to be 22 grams of crystal methamphetamine, as well as quantities of what is believed to be cocaine and psilocybin, and drug trafficking paraphernalia.

Later the same day, police conducted a second unrelated traffic stop which led to the seizure of what is believed to be approximately 20 grams of cocaine. No arrests have been made at this time, and the investigation is ongoing.

“Fentanyl remains one of the most dangerous substances affecting communities across Canada,” says Sgt. Pierre Ladouceur of the West District RCMP. “This substance is not only highly potent but also increasingly linked to fatal overdoses. These recent seizures are a direct result of the tireless work that our members do daily to disrupt the flow of illicit drugs into our communities. Every gram of fentanyl we intercept is a potential life saved.”

Anyone with information that may help further these investigations is asked to contact the St. Stephen RCMP at 506-466-7030.
