As part of Operation Impact, a national traffic safety initiative, members of the West District RCMP in New Brunswick conducted targeted road safety enforcement focused on impaired driving, distracted driving, and other dangerous behaviours.

Between October 10 and 13, 2025, members of the West District RCMP set up three checkpoints in the Western part of New Brunswick and inspected more than 540 vehicles. During the operation, six Provincial Offence Procedure Act were issued, three mandatory alcohol screening tests were administered, one driver received an immediate roadside suspension, and a total of 25 warnings were issued.

“These results reflect the dedication of our frontline members to promoting road safety and reducing high-risk driving behaviours,” said Sgt. Pierre Ladouceur of the West District RCMP. “During these types of operations, our members continue to remind all drivers to buckle up, ensure child safety seats are properly installed, and respect posted speed limits.”

The public can assist in keeping dangerous drivers off the road by reporting them to police. If you see a dangerous or a suspected impaired driver, call 911. Your description of the driver, vehicle, licence plate number and direction of travel can assist police in making New Brunswick roads safer.
