A 52-year-old man from Saint John, N.B., has been charged following a robbery and theft of a vehicle in Bloomfield, N.B.
On October 2, 2025, at approximately 12:13 a.m., members of the Grand Bay-Westfield RCMP were made aware of a report of a robbery and theft of a vehicle that occurred on October 1, 2025, at approximately 9:10 p.m., in the Bloomfield area.
The incident is believed to have occurred when an individual used an edged weapon to gain access to an occupied vehicle. The individual forced the driver, and sole occupant of the vehicle, into the trunk. The driver was released a few hours later. The individual fled the scene.
On October 7, 2025, the New Brunswick RCMP’s Southeast District Community Crime Reduction Unit, with the assistance of the Saint John Police Force, identified and arrested a 52-year-old from Saint John, at a business on Coburg Street in Saint John in connection with this incident.
On October 9, 2025, 52-year-old Joseph Jude Gallant appeared in Saint John Law Courts and was charged with robbery and forcible confinement. He was remanded into custody and is scheduled to return to court on October 16, 2025.
The investigation is ongoing.
