The Richibucto RCMP quickly arrested a 32-year-old man following an attempted theft of a dump truck in Main River, N.B.

On October 2, 2025, at approximately 7:46 a.m., the Richibucto RCMP received a report of a theft of a dump truck on Route 510 in Main River. An individual had gained access to the vehicle for a short period of time, however, was incapable of properly operating the dump truck and fled on foot.

When police arrived at the scene, it was learned that witnesses had a brief encounter with the suspect once he evicted the truck and were able to provide a detailed description of him. Not long after, he was located in the area and arrested without incident.

On October 3, 2025, the 32-year-old man appeared in Moncton Provincial Court and was remanded until his next scheduled court appearance on October 7, 2025.

“As a result of reporting the incident immediately and being able to provide timely, accurate information, police were able to act quickly,” says Cpl. Stéphane Lemire of the Richibucto RCMP. “Calling us as soon as possible with a detailed description of the events taking place can make a big impact on the investigation.”

The investigation is ongoing.
