33-year-old man charged in connection with child sexual abuse and exploitation material

A 33-year-old man from Tracadie, N.B., has been charged in connection with an investigation into child sexual abuse and exploitation material.

The investigation, led by the New Brunswick RCMP’s Internet Child Exploitation Unit, began in September 2025 following information received from the Canada Border Services Agency, in connection with a child like sex doll that had been intercepted in a mail centre.

On November 4, 2025, members of the New Brunswick RCMP’s Internet Child Exploitation Unit, RCMP's Digital Forensic Services, and members from the Tracadie RCMP and multiple specialized RCMP units, executed a search warrant at a residence in Tracadie-Sheila, N.B. A 33-year-old man was arrested at the scene, and police seized a child like sex doll, as well as several electronic devices as part of their investigation.

On November 5, 2025, a charge of possession of child sexual abuse and exploitation material, and a charge of importation of child sexual abuse and exploitation material were laid against 33-year-old Frederick Basque. He was kept for court pending a bail hearing scheduled for November 7, 2025.

The New Brunswick RCMP's Internet Child Exploitation Unit includes members from the Kennebecasis Regional Police Force.
