A 36-year-old man has been arrested following a break, enter and theft in Hampton, N.B.

On November 26, 2025, at approximately 5:21p.m., members of the Hampton RCMP responded to a report of a break, enter and theft that had occurred at a residence on Robertson Road in Hampton. Once police arrived, they observed significant damages inside the residence as a result of the incident. Police quickly determined that the individual had fled the scene on foot towards the Castlewood Drive area. Once on location, police were able to arrest a 36-year-old man who was being detained by bystanders.

“Although dangerous and not recommended, the quick action of bystanders enabled us to arrest the individual involved in an earlier break, enter, and theft in the area”, said Sergeant Curtis McCann from the Hampton RCMP. “While we strongly encourage members of the public to prioritize their own safety and contact police immediately rather than intervene directly, we also recognize the courage shown by those who assisted. Thanks to their actions, officers were able to respond quickly and ensure that the suspect was taken into custody without further incident.”

The individual was later released from custody and is scheduled to appear in court on March 18, 2026.

The investigation is ongoing.
