New Brunswick RCMP seeking public’s help following homicide

The New Brunswick RCMP is investigating a suspicious death in Lorne, N.B., as a homicide, and is asking for the public’s help.

On December 11, 2025, at approximately 9:06 a.m., the Chaleur Region RCMP detachment received a report of a sudden death at a residence in Lorne. The victim has since been identified as 41-year-old Elliot Mallaley of Lorne.

Based on evidence at the scene, police determined that foul play was suspected in the man’s death. The New Brunswick RCMP Major Crime Unit has since deployed investigators and specialized resources to the area, including Forensic Identification Services and the Northeast District Community Crime Reduction Unit.

Police are asking anyone who may live in the area and witnessed suspicious activity, who has dash cam or surveillance camera footage from the area between December 10 at 11:00 a.m., to December 11 at 9:00 a.m., or who has information that could help further the investigation, to contact the New Brunswick RCMP major crime unit at 1-888-506-RCMP (7267) or by email at jdiv.mcu@rcmp-grc.gc.ca.
