As part of on-going efforts to modernize the RCMP uniform, the RCMP is equipping officers with new navy-blue uniform shirts on a province-by-province basis.
Starting early in 2026, frontline RCMP officers in New Brunswick will begin to wear their new navy-blue uniform shirts.
As members begin to acquire their new shirts, there will be a transition period that members of the public can expect to see both the new navy-blue shirts, and the old grey shirts being worn by members on duty.
“We understand that seeing a new uniform, or two members wearing different coloured shirts could cause confusion or a sense of unease”, says Cpl. Hans Ouellette of the New Brunswick RCMP. “We also understand that there have been incidents of individuals impersonating police, if you have concerns about their identity, call your local police.”
You can also contact your local detachment’s non-emergency line, or the Operational Communication Centre at 888-506-RCMP (7267) to confirm if there is a police officer at your location.
