A 21-year-old woman from Esgenoôpetitj First Nation, a 39-year-old man from Red Bank First Nation and a 40-year-old man from Lavillette, have been arrested following a series of credit card fraud in the Neguac area.

In January 2026, members of the Neguac RCMP began an investigation into a series of credit card fraud involving Government of New Brunswick (GNB) fuel cards in the Neguac area. Over the course of the investigation, police determined that at least five different GNB fuel cards were fraudulently used to purchase fuel, with a total loss of over $6000.

On January 5, 2026, police arrested a 21-year-old woman from Esgenoôpetitj First Nation, a 39-year-old man from Red Bank First Nation and a 40-year-old man from Lavillette, without incident in a parking lot in Brantville. All three individuals were later released and are scheduled to appear in court at a later date.

“We encourage local businesses, especially gas stations who suspects fraudulent credit card activity to reach out to police, said Corporal Danny Cyr with the Neguac RCMP. “Vigilance remains key in preventing further offences.”

Police believe there may be more cards in use.
