RCMP Federal Policing — Eastern Region announces that an individual has been arrested and charged with uttering death threats. Mohamed Abdullah Warsame, 51, allegedly told a Mission Old Brewery employee that he intended to commit an attack with the goal of killing a large number of people. Service de police de la Ville de Montréal (SPVM) officers responded quickly upon receiving the report. SPVM immediately informed the RCMP of this incident, after which the RCMP Integrated National Security Enforcement Team took charge of the investigation.
Following a short investigation, RCMP officers arrested him. Mr. Warsame is charged with uttering threats under section 264.1 of the Criminal Code. He appeared this morning at the Montréal courthouse by videoconference. The investigation is ongoing.
Appeal to the public
The RCMP takes seriously any threats that can affect one’s sense of security. Violent statements will not be tolerated. Perpetrators may face criminal charges involving significant sentences. Such incidents must be reported if we are to combat this type of crime.
