Yellowknife man charged with ‘selling of tobacco products’ and possession of property obtained by crime

The RCMP’s Federal Arctic Unit (FAU) in Yellowknife conducted an investigation involving the B7 Convenience Store, as well as Aurora Delivery and Moving Services in Yellowknife.

On Dec. 17, 2025, the FAU executed several search warrants in Yellowknife, and the owner of the B7 Convenience Store was subsequently arrested. As a result of this investigation, the RCMP seized more than $128,000 in illegal goods: 

  • 21,595 cigarettes
  • 598 Zynn nicotine pouches
  • 438 empty vape boxes
  • 385 vapes
  • 24 packs of illicit tobacco (shisha)
  • $57,543 cash 

Mamush Mekonin Feyisa (33), a resident of Yellowknife, was arrested and charged with: 

  • Selling, etc., of tobacco products and raw leaf tobacco contrary to section 121.1(1) of the Criminal Code;
  • Possession of property over $5,000 obtained by crime contrary to section 354(1)(a) of the Criminal Code;
  • Unlawful possession or sale of tobacco products contrary to section 32(1) of the Excise Act;
  • Unlawful possession or sale — specified vaping province contrary to section 158.44(2) of the Excise Act; and,
  • Unlawful possession or sale of vaping products contrary to section 158.44(1)(b) of the Excise Act.

Feyisa is scheduled to appear in Yellowknife Territorial Court on Feb. 3, 2026.
