RCMP Federal Policing Eastern Region announces that charges have been laid against three individuals allegedly involved in an international cocaine trafficking network. Mathieu Provost, 38, from Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu, and Ysmael Rodrigues Da Costa, 30, from Brossard, are charged with conspiracy to import cocaine and to possess cocaine for the purpose of trafficking. Ahmad Ebad Ebadi, 28, from Carignan, is also charged with possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking.

According to an investigation by the Combined Forces Special Enforcement Unit (CFSEU) in 2022, Mr. Provost and Mr. Rodrigues Da Costa allegedly conspired to import substantial quantities of cocaine into Quebec from Peru. Mr. Ebadi allegedly transported drugs for the group in the Montréal area.

All three accused were arrested this morning. They are scheduled to appear today at the Longueuil courthouse.

It should be noted that, as part of a parallel investigation by the National Police of Peru, two Canadians involved in the same network, Frédéric Dewald and Francis Toupin-Bergevin, were found guilty of cocaine trafficking.
