The RCMP Federal Policing Northwest Region’s (NWR) Integrated Market Enforcement Team (IMET) in Calgary, with support from the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), arrested two fugitives in Algonquin Highlands, Ont.
On May 26, 2026, OPP’s Haliburton Highlands Detachment responded to an unrelated call for service. Further investigation resulted in OPP locating two individuals, ages 44 and 70-years-old, identified as subjects of active Canada-wide warrants issued in November 2021. Both individuals were arrested without incident, remanded into custody, and transported back to Alberta.
The warrants stem from an IMET investigation where the accused are alleged to have misappropriated nearly $5 million in investors’ funds between January 2019 and December 2020 via an Alberta-based day trading company. IMET charged each of the accused with the following:
- Laundering proceeds of crime over $5,000 contrary to section 462.31 of the Criminal Code;
- Fraud over $5,000 contrary to section 380(1)(a) of the Criminal Code; and,
- Theft contrary to section 334(a) of the Criminal Code.
The 70-year-old is scheduled to appear at the Alberta Court of Justice in Calgary on June 22, 2026, while the 44-year-old is scheduled to appear on June 24, 2026.
IMET would like to thank OPP, Ontario’s Ministry of the Attorney General, the Alberta Crown Prosecution Service’s Appeals and Specialized Prosecutions branch, and the Alberta Sheriffs for the support in this investigation.

Quotes
“IMET is committed to conducting thorough and complex investigations against those who choose to victimize Canadians through the abuse of Canada’s capital markets system. In this case, the investigation continued years after the evidence of offences had been secured. The dedication and investigative work of all those involved were instrumental in locating the accused and ensuring they are returned to face the charges before the courts.”
