During the Christmas break in December 2025, the Salmon Arm RCMP became aware of a potential incident associated to violent extremism directed toward local schools in the area.

On December 30, 2025, the Salmon Arm RCMP, with support from Federal Policing Pacific Region and the RCMP Southeast District Emergency Response Team, executed a search warrant at a rural property where a youth was arrested and later released under court-imposed conditions.

On June 16, 2026, the court further imposed a 12-month terrorism peace bond against the youth with similar strict conditions. The youth is under curfew and is being monitored and supervised to ensure compliance with the court order.

No charges have been laid in this incident as the investigation into this matter is active and ongoing. To ensure the integrity of this investigation, no further details can be released at this time.

As the youth is under the age of 18, the Youth Criminal Justice Act prevents any further release of information.

The RCMP acknowledges that this information may be concerning for community members and remain committed to ensuring public safety.
