Operation underway in Montréal

RCMP Federal Policing Eastern Region would like to inform members of the media of an ongoing operation. Police officers from the Champlain Integrated Border Enforcement Team are conducting a search at a residence in the borough of Montréal-Nord, in connection with an investigation into a suspected human smuggling ring. Two people, an alleged smuggler and a migrant, were arrested.

According to the investigation, the residence searched is believed to have been used as temporary housing for migrants who have just illegally crossed the border, or to hide migrants while waiting to smuggle them into the United States. The investigation is ongoing.
