Newfoundland and Labrador AMBER Alert program
The AMBER Alert program was introduced in Newfoundland and Labrador in 2003. It is a comprehensive program partnering the province's law enforcement community, media broadcasting agencies and the public to provide a coordinated and rapid response to child abductions in Newfoundland and Labrador.
When an AMBER Alert is initiated, Police will provide the public with immediate and up-to-date information through widespread media broadcasts and solicit the public's help in the safe and swift return of the abducted child. The participation of the public is essential to the success of AMBER Alert.

Newfoundland and Labrador AMBER Alert criteria
- Police have confirmed an abduction has occurred.
- The victim is a child, or of proven mental or physical disability.
- There is reason to believe the victim is in danger of serious bodily injury.
- Information is available that, if broadcast to the general public, could assist in the safe recovery of the child.
