Mary’s Harbour RCMP arrested one man for possession of stolen property and flight from police after responding to a report about a stolen vehicle on Monday evening.
On Monday, March 9, around 7:45 p.m., Mary’s Harbour RCMP received a call about a vehicle stolen from a Port Hope Simpson home. An officer located the described pickup truck travelling towards St. Lewis a short time later and attempted to pull the car over, however, the driver did not stop.
Police continued to track the vehicle and engaged Forteau RCMP to assist. The driver stopped near Red Bay about an hour later and was taken into custody without incident.
Thirty-eight-year-old Simon Garceau of Fermont, Quebec, was transported to Mary’s Harbour and charged with possessing property obtained by crime and flight from police. He is expected to appear in provincial court today (March 11).
The investigation continues.
