RCMP Traffic Services Central ticketed a 46-year-old speeder and seized his car on Wednesday afternoon after a traffic stop revealed he was operating an unregistered vehicle with a suspended licence.
Shortly after 4:00 p.m. on March 18, an officer patrolling the Trans-Canada Highway near Traytown stopped a vehicle captured travelling 133 km/hr in a 100 km/hr zone. The driver — a 46-year-old Hillview man — was operating with a suspended licence, and had not properly transferred the ownership and registration after purchasing his vehicle.
He was issued tickets under the Highway Traffic Act for speeding, driving while suspended and failure to notify the registrar of transfer of ownership. The vehicle was seized and impounded by police.
RCMP officers patrol roadways across Newfoundland and Labrador looking for impaired drivers, checking for seatbelts and ensuring vehicles and drivers are operating safely and with the appropriate documentation. Motorists are reminded to drive safe, drive sober and ensure that your licence, registration and insurance are always up to date.
