Harbour Grace RCMP arrested a 55-year-old man Monday night after responding to a report of a suspected impaired driver in Carbonear.
Shortly after 10:00 p.m. on March 23, Harbour Grace RCMP received a call from a concerned citizen who reported a possible impaired driver. Police located the described vehicle driving erratically in the Powell Drive area and initiated a traffic stop.
The officer noted clear signs of impairment, and the driver — a 55-year-old Kingston man — was arrested for impaired operation of a conveyance. He was transported to the Harbour Grace detachment, where he provided breath samples that were nearly three times the legal limit.
The man now faces Criminal Code charges of impaired operation and impaired operation over 80 mg%. He was released from custody and will appear in Harbour Grace Provincial Court on a future date. In addition, his vehicle was impounded and he his licence suspended.
