Natuashish RCMP responds to disturbance, arrest man for mischief, assaulting officers

Natuashish RCMP arrested 48-year-old Sebastian Rich of Natuashish with assault on a police officer, after police responded to a disturbance outside a Natuashish home Tuesday evening.

Just before 10:00 p.m. on March 24, 2026, police responded to a disturbance in progress outside a home on Tshakapesh Street. A concerned citizen reported that the suspect appeared intoxicated and was attempting to gain entry into a home with a large wooden object. 

Officers attended and arrested Sebastian Edward Rich, 48, who resisted and failed to comply with police commands, assaulting two officers.

Rich was held in police custody overnight. He is expected to appear in court today (Wednesday), to answer to Criminal Code charges of:

• Assault on a police officer – two counts,
• Resist or obstruct a police officer,
• Mischief under $5,000.

The investigation is ongoing.
