Labrador District GIS arrests three people after Sheshatshiu armed robbery

RCMP Labrador District General Investigation Section (GIS) arrested 39-year-old Jonathan Chevrier-Icebound on Wednesday following an investigation into an armed robbery in the community of Sheshatshiu in December 2025. To date, police have arrested a total of three suspects in relation to the incident.

Around 3:30 a.m. on Tuesday, December 2, 2025, Sheshatshiu RCMP responded to a report of an armed robbery inside a home on Edwards Drive in Sheshatshiu. A firearm was discharged during the incident causing damage inside the home, and the victim suffered non-life threatening injuries.

Labrador District GIS was engaged to lead the investigation and a search warrant, authorized under the Criminal Code, was executed with support from the RCMP Forensic Identification Section (FIS).

As a result of the ongoing investigation, two suspects were identified and arrested by police in December 2025. Petapen Hurley, 23, and 43-year-old Natasha Hurley have been charged with robbery and assault with a weapon. 

Petapen Hurley also faces three additional charges for using imitation firearm in the commission of an offence and two counts of failure to comply with a release order.

On March 24, 2026, a third suspect identified in the investigation was arrested by Sheshatshiu RCMP. Jonathan Chevrier-Icebound, 39, appeared in provincial court yesterday (Wednesday) on eight charges including: 

  • Robbery with a firearm,
  • Discharge firearm with intent to commit an indictable offence,
  • Assault with a weapon,
  • Careless use of a firearm,
  • Unauthorized possession of a firearm,
  • Weapons possession contrary to order and fail to surrender authorization,
  • Disguised with intent to commit an offence,
  • Failure to comply with a probation order.

Chevrier-Icebound remains in custody. Both Petapen and Natasha Hurley have been released on court-imposed conditions.

The investigation is ongoing.
