Two men, ages 32 and 38, and a woman, 27, were arrested by RCMP-RNC Joint Forces Operation (JFO) West on Wednesday after a traffic stop near Halfway Point resulted in the seizure of drugs, a weapon and drug paraphernalia.
On March 25, 2026, RCMP-RNC JFO West stopped a vehicle on Route 450, near Halfway Point, as part of an ongoing investigation. Officers located and seized quantities of cocaine and hydromorphone pills, cash, a conducted energy weapon (commonly known as a taser) and other items consistent with drug trafficking activity.
Michael Joseph Park, 38, of Lark Harbour was released from custody with conditions, and is expected to appear in Corner Brook Provincial Court on June 30, 2026. He faces charges under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act of possession for the purpose of trafficking in cocaine and hydromorphone.
The remaining two occupants of the vehicle were released from custody without charge.
The investigation is continuing and further charges are possible.
JFO West, which includes dedicated police officers from both the RCMP and Royal Newfoundland Constabulary, targets drug trafficking and organized crime on the west coast of Newfoundland.
If you are a resident on the province’s west coast and you suspect there is drug trafficking in your neighborhood, JFO West wants to speak with you. You can remain anonymous while speaking directly with a police officer by contacting the JFO West’s designated drug line at 709-637-4221.
