A 41-year-old man was ticketed after his vehicle went off the road when he attempted to pass a snowplow on the Trans-Canada Highway Monday afternoon.
Just before 2:00 a.m. on April 6, 2026, Whitbourne RCMP responded to the scene of a single vehicle stuck in the snow on the Trans-Canada Highway near Mackinsons. There were no injuries reported. A tow truck was required to remove the vehicle from the snowbank.
Police determined that the driver had been attempting to pass a snowplow while it was clearing snow from highway. Road conditions and weather conditions were poor at the time.
The driver was ticketed under the Highway Traffic Act for driving without due care and attention.
Passing a snow clearing vehicle can be dangerous for you, other drivers and the operator of the plow. Snowplows make our roads safer, but only if you give them space to work. Stay back an appropriate distance and do not make attempts to pass them. Buckle up, slow down and give snowplow operators the space they need to help keep our roads safe!
