An unknown man points a can of spray paint at the lens of a video surveillance camera. The man is wearing a light-coloured hoodie – with the hood up and drawstring tied to obstruct his face – a pair of black gloves and a black jacket. A blue change machine and a large orange pylon are visible in the background.

Clarenville RCMP is investigating an incident of theft and mischief at local car wash facility last month and are looking to the public for information about the suspect.

Just before 3:00 a.m. on March 14, 2026, Clarenville RCMP responded to a commercial alarm at the Clarenville U-Wash on Thompson Road.

Video surveillance footage from the business shows the suspect entering the car wash building and using a vehicle to forcefully remove a coin change machine from the wall. The vehicle is a mid-sized SUV, believed to be a Chevrolet Equinox, possibly a 2009 to 2015 model.

The video surveillance also shows the suspect, believed to be male, wearing a light-coloured hoodie with the hood up and drawstring tightened, a black jacket, a pair of black gloves, a black toque, a pair of black pants and black boots.

Images of the suspect and the vehicle involved are attached.

The investigation is continuing.
