Whitbourne-Placentia RCMP responds to disturbance at arena, charges man with assault

Whitbourne-Placentia RCMP arrested a man for assault after police responded to a disturbance inside an arena in Placentia Tuesday evening.

At approximately 7:20 p.m. on April 7, Placentia RCMP responded to a disturbance involving patrons inside the Unity PARC Arena on Blockhouse Road in Placentia. A verbal argument at the facility escalated to a physical assault. The victim sustained minor, non-life-threatening injuries.

Police identified and arrested a 69-year-old man at the scene.

He was later released on an Undertaking, and is expected appear in provincial court on May 13, 2026, to answer to one Criminal Code charge of assault.

The investigation continues at this time. Any witnesses who have not yet spoken to police are asked to contact the Placentia RCMP detachment at 709-227-2000.
