Channel-Port aux Basques RCMP impounded an all-terrain vehicle (ATV) on Monday evening, after learning that the vehicle was being driven without the proper insurance.
On April 20, just after 7:30 p.m., an officer on patrol on Main Street in Port aux Basques stopped an ATV operating on the roadway. The operator, a 39-year-old man, was unable to produce documents to confirm that the off-road vehicle was registered or insured.
Police seized and impounded the ATV and issued the operator a ticket for operating on the road without insurance.
As the days get longer and the season starts to thaw, people across the province will be dusting off their ATV’s and getting back on the go. Drivers are reminded of the importance of obeying all laws and regulations any time you’re operating an off-road vehicle. That means wearing a helmet and ensuring that you have the proper documentation, including a valid licence and insurance if you are operating on the roadway.
