Bay St. George RCMP is releasing images publicly of a vehicle investigators are looking to identify as part of an ongoing investigation into a fire that caused extensive damage to an industrial building in Stephenville last month.
Around 4:30 p.m. on Friday, April 24, 2026, Bay St. George RCMP responded to a fire at an industrial building on Carolina Avenue in Stephenville. Fire crews with the Stephenville Fire Department extinguished the fire and no injuries were reported to police.
The Fire Commissioner’s Office was engaged, and a provincial fire investigator attended the scene in an effort to determine the cause. The investigation is ongoing at this time.
Video surveillance from April 24 shows a dark-coloured SUV turning into a parking lot from Carolina Avenue and departing a short time later. Police are looking to identify the owner and driver of this vehicle. A photo of the SUV is attached.
Bay St. George RCMP is asking anyone who may have witnessed the incident, or anyone with information about the vehicle in question to contact police. Residents or businesses with surveillance video or images from the area near the area, around the time of the blaze are asked to contact Bay St. George RCMP at 709-643-2118.
