A 45-year-old man wanted in connection to a string of break-ins in Grand Falls-Windsor was arrested on Thursday and charged with breaking and entering, mischief and breach of his release conditions.

Grand Falls-Windsor RCMP advised the public earlier this week of an increased police presence around Earle and Duggan Streets, as officers conducted patrols related to an ongoing investigation into break and enters in the area. As the result of these patrols, a 45-year-old male was stopped by police during the early morning hours of May 14 and later arrested and charged in relation to these incidents.

A search warrant for the man’s property was obtained by RCMP West District General Investigation Section (GIS), resulting in the location of evidence related to the offences.

The 45-year-old Grand Falls-Windsor man was charged with breaking and entering and mischief. He was released from police custody with conditions, including a curfew, to appear in provincial court at a future date.

As part of an ongoing offender management initiative, police conducted a check shortly after midnight on May 15 to ensure the man was complying with his conditions. Officers were not able to locate him at home during his designated curfew hours. He attended the detachment a short time later, where he was arrested and charged with failing to comply with an Undertaking.

He was held in custody to appear in Provincial Court today (Friday) in relation to the breach of his conditions.

Ensuring individuals comply with the conditions of their release from custody is a key part of reducing repeat crime and enhancing public safety. Continued monitoring and follow‑up checks also allow police to intervene quickly when conditions are breached, while also recognizing and supporting those who do comply.
