A 19-year-old Burin man had his licence suspended and his vehicle seized after RCMP officers caught him driving dangerously late Tuesday evening.
At approximately 11:15 p.m. on May 26, 2026, Burin Peninsula RCMP observed a vehicle operating dangerously in a parking lot on Columbia Drive. A truck was seen performing stunts, including sharp turns, high speeds and other dangerous maneuvers that could cause the driver to lose control of the vehicle, putting the driver, pedestrians and others at serious risk.
The driver’s vehicle was seized and impounded. His licence was suspended, and he was ticketed under the Highway Traffic Act for operating a vehicle while performing a stunt.
In Newfoundland and Labrador, stunting can lead to serious charges under the Highway Traffic Act and the Criminal Code, including licence suspensions, vehicle impoundments, fines and jail time. Even worse, you could be putting your life and the lives of others at risk for a moment of thrill on the road.
