A dark red pick-up truck, with its rear driver’s side window covered in yellow tape, is pulled off the roadway.

RCMP in Sheshatshiu seized a vehicle during a traffic stop as part of a traffic enforcement initiative in the community on Friday. The owner was also ticketed after an investigation revealed that the vehicle was being operated without valid insurance.

On June 5, 2026, Sheshatshiu RCMP officers stopped passenger vehicles on roads throughout the community looking for impaired, distracted and aggressive drivers, speeding and seat belt use, and ensuring vehicles and drivers operate safely and with the appropriate documentation.

Just before 9:30 p.m., an officer stopped a vehicle with damaged windows on Shuasham Street. The operator — a 47-year-old man — was unable to provide insurance and registration documents, and further investigation revealed that the vehicle did not have proper insurance.

The vehicle was seized and impounded, and police issued a ticket under the Highway Traffic Act for operating without insurance.

Police were happy to report that none of the motorists stopped were driving while impaired

RCMP Newfoundland and Labrador continues to fill its mandate to protect public safety, enforce the law and ensure the delivery of priority policing services in the province. We thank the public for continuing to report incidents of excessive speed, dangerous driving and crimes within their communities.
