Deer Lake RCMP has laid charges against three youths after responding to a disturbance in a residential neighbourhood Tuesday morning.
Shortly before 2:45 a.m. on June 23, police in Deer Lake received several calls from the public about fighting in the street. When police arrived at the scene, they learned that three suspects had broken into a nearby home, assaulted the residents and damaged the property.
Emergency medical services personnel attended the home to assess the victims and treated minor injuries.
The suspects were known to the victims, and three youths matching the descriptions and surveillance images provided by victims and witnesses were located nearby. They were taken into custody and charged with:
- Breaking and entering a residence,
- Assault – four counts,
- Assault with a weapon – two counts,
- Mischief – two counts.
They were released from custody to their guardians, with conditions, and will appear in court at a future date.
This incident remains under investigation with further charges possible.
