A 33-year-old man faces an impaired driving charge after police responded to a two-vehicle collision near South Brook on Thursday afternoon.

Shortly before 4:30 p.m. on July 9, Springdale RCMP responded to a reported collision on Route 380, north of South Brook. The occupants of one vehicle were transported to hospital by Emergency Medical Services personnel for treatment of injuries that are not believed to be life-threatening in nature.

The driver of the second vehicle, a 33-year-old Springdale man, was not injured and refused medical treatment. However, police observed signs of impairment and open alcohol at the scene of collision, and the man failed a roadside screening.

He was arrested and transported to the Springdale RCMP Detachment. His vehicle was seized and impounded, and his licence was suspended.

He was released on conditions and is expected appear in court in September 2026 on one charge of impaired operation of a motor vehicle.

The man was also ticketed under the Highway Traffic Act for driving without reasonable consideration of others.

Impaired operation of any vehicle is a reckless and unnecessary choice that can have deadly consequences. If you suspect someone of operating a vehicle while under the influence of drugs or alcohol, call 9-1-1 to make a report.
