Channel-Port aux Basques RCMP ticketed a 48-year-old woman Friday morning after responding to a collision and discovering the driver had been operating a vehicle without a valid driver’s licence.
Just before 8:00 a.m. on July 10, officers with Channel-Port aux-Basques RCMP received a report of a two-vehicle collision near the ferry terminal. Police attended the scene and confirmed that one of the driver’s involved did not possess a valid licence. The 48-year-old Alberta woman was ticketed under the province’s Highway Traffic Act for operating a vehicle with an expired licence.
No injuries were reported to police as a result of the collision.
RCMP Newfoundland and Labrador reminds all drivers that you are required to have valid legal documentation, including licence, registration and insurance, on your person when operating a motor vehicle. If you are unregistered, unlicenced or uninsured, do not operate a vehicle of any kind. Anyone found operating a motor vehicle on Newfoundland and Labrador roadways without the proper legal documentation, licencing and registration will be penalized and face legal consequences.
