Channel-Port aux Basques RCMP charged a 41-year-old man with impaired operation on Saturday night during a proactive traffic patrol near Codroy.

Shortly after 11:00 p.m. on July 18, police conducting proactive traffic enforcement in the Cape Anguille area observed a vehicle traveling well under the posted speed limit and conducted a traffic stop. The driver showed signs of impairment and failed a roadside screening.

The 41-year-old Codroy man was arrested for impaired operation and transported to the detachment in Port aux Basques, where he provided additional breath samples over the legal limit.

His driver’s licence was suspended, and his vehicle was seized by police and impounded.

The man was released from custody and will appear in provincial court in September 2026 to face charges of operation while impaired and operation while impaired over 80mg%.

Impaired operation of any motor vehicle is an unnecessary choice that puts everyone on our roads at an increased and unacceptable risk of serious injury or death. If you suspect someone is driving while impaired, please immediately call 911 to make a report.
