Bay St. George RCMP arrested two people on Thursday morning, after responding to a disturbance at a Stephenville bank. The pair were charged with assault, and will appear in provincial court in October 2026.
On August 27, shortly after 11:00 a.m., police received a call from a bank employee, concerned that two patrons were attempting to force a third customer from the building against their will. The two suspects fled the scene prior to officers’ arrival, but the victim was able to provide their names and descriptions to police.
The suspects, a 34-year-old man and a 34-year-old woman, were located a short time later and arrested without incident. They were each charged with one count of assault, and were released with conditions to appear in court in October 2026.
The investigation is ongoing and additional charges are possible.
Bay St. George RCMP thanks the employee that called to report their concerns to police. If you see criminal or suspicious activity, please contact your local police as soon as possible, or call 1-800-709-RCMP (7267).
