UPDATE (September 1, at 3:00 p.m.): Thanks to tip information from the public, Clarenville RCMP confirms that the individual has now been identified and the criminal investigation remains ongoing at this time.

RCMP NL has now removed the images of the male suspect and the suspect vehicle from its online newsroom and social media pages. Thanks to the media and the public for their attention and assistance.

Clarenville RCMP is looking for the public’s assistance to identify a man in relation to a theft from a local retail store and asking anyone with information to contact police. 

On Monday, August 24, officers responded to a reported theft at the Walmart on Shoal Harbour Drive. Surveillance camera captured a man placing items in a cart and leaving the store without paying. The total value of the items was approximately $670.00.

When store staff approached the man to request proof of payment, he shoved an employee, exited the store and left in a grey Chevrolet Malibu. 

The man is white, with close-cropped brown hair, a goatee and tattoos. He was wearing a grey long-sleeve shirt, and a grey zip-up hooded sweatshirt. 

Photos of the man and the vehicle are attached. 

The investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information about the identity of this suspect is asked to contact Clarenville RCMP as soon as possible at (709) 466-3211.
