Burin Peninsula RCMP arrests and charges man for failing to comply with court orders

Burin Peninsula RCMP arrested a 38-year-old man Monday morning after he was found violating two court orders, including court-imposed release conditions that required him to remain inside his residence during designated hours.

Shortly after 8:30 a.m. on August 31, Bradley Thomas Power, 38, was located by police outside his residence outside of the curfew set out in a Conditional Sentence Order (CSO). He was arrested without incident for failing to comply with the conditions of his release.

Police also determined that Power had failed to comply with another condition put in place by the courts, which required him to complete the requirements set out in a DNA Order.

Power was held in custody to appear in court on Tuesday. He faces charges of failing to comply with a Conditional Sentence Order and failing to comply with an order or a summons (DNA Order).

RCMP officers across the province regularly conduct checks to ensure compliance with court-imposed conditions. Many of these individuals are repeat offenders, known to police and in their communities, and ensuring they comply with their conditions helps reduce repeat crime and enhances public safety.

Continued monitoring and follow up checks also allows police to intervene quickly when conditions are breached, while also recognizing and supporting those who are complying.
