Newfoundland and Labrador’s RCMP Emergency Response Team (ERT) and the Canadian Coast Guard recently conducted joint training exercises aimed at enhancing public safety and strengthening emergency response capabilities across Newfoundland and Labrador.

The collaborative training provided an opportunity for both organizations to share knowledge, demonstrate specialized capabilities and practice advanced rescue techniques in a marine environment. The exercises also supported preparedness efforts that contribute to border integrity and enhance the ability of both agencies to respond effectively to emergencies on the water.

For communities throughout Newfoundland and Labrador, particularly those in remote and coastal areas that can be difficult to access by land, enhanced preparedness translates into a more coordinated and efficient emergency response when it is needed most.

The training also highlighted the capabilities of RCMP marine assets, which are equipped with advanced technology, including radar and night vision systems. These specialized resources support a wide range of law enforcement operations across the province and enable effective response efforts during both day and nighttime conditions.

By working together, the RCMP and the Canadian Coast Guard maximize the effectiveness of available resources, maintain interoperability and strengthen their collective ability to protect residents, boaters and visitors throughout Newfoundland and Labrador.
