CORRECTION: The driver’s licence of the 49-year-old Harbour Grace man was not suspended by police as previously reported. As a result of the traffic violations committed, he was issued multiple tickets under the Newfoundland and Labrador Highway Traffic Act and his vehicle was impounded.

A 49-year-old man is without his licence and his vehicle after he was found operating a vehicle without valid insurance or registration.

On October 28, at approximately 11:00 a.m. an RCMP Traffic Services East officer conducting proactive traffic enforcement stopped a vehicle on Water Street in Harbour Grace. The officer confirmed that the driver did not have a valid insurance policy, and that the vehicle was not properly registered after it was purchased.

The man’s licence was suspended, and the vehicle was seized by police roadside and impounded. He was issued tickets for the unregistered vehicle, operating the vehicle without insurance and failing to notify the registrar of transfer of ownership.

RCMP Newfoundland and Labrador reminds all drivers that you are required to have valid legal documentation, including licence, registration and insurance, on your person when operating a motor vehicle. If you are buying or selling a vehicle, you must follow all requirements of the provincial Motor Registration Division.

Anyone found operating a motor vehicle on Newfoundland and Labrador roadways without the proper legal documentation, licensing and registration will be penalized and face legal consequences.
