New-Wes-Valley RCMP arrested a 45-year-old man on Thursday night, after responding to a disturbance at an Indian Bay home. Jethro Fancy of Wareham has been charged with breaking and entering and assault with a weapon, and will appear in provincial court today.
On October 29, around 10:45 p.m., New-Wes-Valley RCMP officers received a report of an assault at a home in Indian Bay. When officers arrived, the victim explained that a man, known to him, broke into the residence and hit him several times with a blunt object. Emergency Medical Services personnel attended the home, and transported the victim to hospital for further assessment and treatment of injuries that are not believed to be life-threatening in nature.
The victim was able to provide police with the name and a description of the attacker, and officers located the suspect at a residence in Wareham. Jethro Zane Fancy, 45, was arrested without incident and transported to the detachment in Gander.
Fancy is charged with assault with a weapon or imitation, and breaking and entering and committing an indictable offence. He was held in custody overnight and will appear in Gander provincial court on Friday, October 30.
The investigation is ongoing.
