Assistant Commissioner Dennis Daley
Assistant Commissioner Dennis Daley has served Canada as a member of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police since June 1988.
He received his first posting in 1989 as a general duty police officer in New Minas, Nova Scotia, where he worked for six years.
From 1995 to 2007, Assistant Commissioner Daley served in various detachments across New Brunswick before joining the Integrated Border Enforcement Team, where he worked closely with American law enforcement for two years.
Assistant Commissioner Daley was promoted to the rank of Inspector in 2009 and returned to Nova Scotia as the Executive Officer to the Deputy Commissioner East. In 2011, he transferred to Halifax District as an Operational Officer, where, for two years, he worked side-by-side with the Halifax Regional Police.
From 2013 to 2017, Assistant Commissioner Daley was the Officer in Charge of Administration and Personnel for Nova Scotia, overseeing human resources, professional standards, strategic planning, health services, honours and awards, and departmental security.
In 2017, he was promoted to Chief Superintendent and transferred to National Headquarters in Ottawa, as National Criminal Operations Officer, responsible for operational policy, training and equipment, and the National Office of Investigative Standards and Practices. In 2019, he was promoted to the Assistant Commissioner of Contract and Indigenous Policing where he was responsible for managing the contract policing business line, which includes municipal, provincial, territorial and Indigenous policing.
In 2021 he returned to Nova Scotia as the Commanding Officer of H Division. In that same year, he was named co-chair of the Canadian Association of Chiefs of Police Law Amendments Committee. He has been awarded the RCMP Long Service medal, the Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal and the King Charles III Coronation Medal.
Assistant Commissioner Daley holds a Bachelor of Social Sciences in Criminology from the University of Ottawa. He enjoys spending time outside of work with his wife and their four children, who reside throughout the Maritimes.
