RCMP Halifax Regional Detachment charge man with attempted murder

RCMP Halifax Regional Detachment has charged a man with Attempt to Commit Murder following a stabbing in North Preston.

On July 9, at approximately 11:45 a.m., RCMP officers and EHS responded to a report of an assault with a weapon at a home on Churchill Terrace. RCMP officers learned that two men, who are known to one another, were involved in an altercation when one man stabbed the other.

The victim, a 22-year-old North Preston man, suffered non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to hospital by EHS.

Two women, known to the men, were also in the residence at the time of the incident and did not suffer physical injuries.

Tyrese Seymour Byrne, 24, from North Preston, was arrested at the scene. He’s been charged with Attempt to Commit Murder.

Byrne was held in custody and will appear in Dartmouth Provincial Court today.

The investigation is ongoing.
