Police arrest four people for drugs and firearms offences

Police have arrested four people for drug and firearms offences after executing search warrants in Dartmouth and Eastern Passage as part of an ongoing investigation.
On August 19, the RCMP/HRP Integrated Special Enforcement Section executed search warrants at homes on Cow Bay Rd. and Serop Cres. in Eastern Passage and a residence on Joseph Young St. in Dartmouth.
The searches, assisted by the RCMP and HRP Emergency Response Teams, along with HRP’s Quick Response Unit, HRP general duty officers, and the RCMP Halifax Regional Detachment Street Crime Enforcement Unit, resulted in the seizure of two firearms with the serial numbers removed, cocaine and drug paraphernalia. Officers safely arrested four men during the police operation.
Daniel Michaud, 33, of Eastern Passage, has been charged with 20 firearms offences, including Possession of a Prohibited Firearm with Ammunition (two counts), Possession of a Weapon for Dangerous Purpose (four counts), and Tampering with a Serial Number. He has also been charged with Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking.
Jonathan Tibayan, 55, of Dartmouth, has been charged with eight firearms offences, including Possession of Prohibited Firearm with Ammunition, Possession of a Weapon for Dangerous Purpose, and Tampering with a Serial Number. He has also been charged with Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking (two counts).
Michaud and Tibayan were remanded into custody and will appear in Dartmouth Provincial Court on September 8.
The two other men who were arrested, a 56-year-old and a 59-year-old, both of Dartmouth, will appear in Dartmouth Provincial Court at a later date to face multiple charges.
The investigation is ongoing and is being led by the RCMP/HRP Integrated Criminal Investigation Division, Special Enforcement Section.
