Shelburne District RCMP is investigating a dog attack in Welshtown that left a youth with life-threatening injuries.

On January 3, at approximately 5:12 p.m., RCMP officers, EHS, and fire services responded to a report of a dog attack that had occurred in the 100 block of Upper Sandy Cove Rd.

Officers learned that three large-breed dogs attacked a youth who was riding a bicycle past the property.

EHS LifeFlight transported the youth to Halifax with life-threatening injuries.

The dogs involved in the incident have been euthanized by a veterinarian.

The investigation is ongoing. No further details will be released at this time.
