Colchester County District RCMP has proceeded with formally charging two youths arrested in connection with a sexual assault investigation involving a hockey team in the Truro area. The other two youths who were arrested will not be charged.

One youth has been charged with Sexual Assault with a Weapon and Sexual Assault (two counts). The other has been charged with Sexual Assault with a Weapon, Sexual Assault (two counts), and Assault with a Weapon.

“Based on the investigation, we won’t be moving forward with charges against two of four youths arrested,” says S/Sgt. Marc Rose, District Commander, Colchester County District RCMP

Investigators believe there may be other victims who’ve not yet come forward.

“We want anyone who’s been a victim of assault under the guise of team initiation or bonding to know they’ll be heard and supported,” says S/Sgt. Rose. “Our investigators use a trauma-informed approach, and you can speak with police at any time without needing to immediately decide whether to participate in the full investigative or court process.”

Anyone with information is asked to call Colchester County District RCMP at 902-893-6820. To remain anonymous, contact Nova Scotia Crime Stoppers, toll-free, at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477), submit a secure web tip at www.crimestoppers.ns.ca or use the P3 Tips app.
